Father’s Day Moments-I Should Have…
It’s only yesterday when I wrote that “Unread letter to Daddy†as my tribute to him last Father’s Day. And now it seems I always look back those memories we had together. The toughest part of being a father is being a man in the world of parenting. Any man can be a Father but it takes a special person to be called Dad.
Last day I just finished watching the movie, “The Bucket List†starring Jack Nicholson, Morgan Freeman, and Sean Hayes. It’s about two incurably- ill men in their fifties who formed a friendship while stuck in a hospital room. There’s a lot of reflection between the two. Every time they complete an item in the bucket list, they cross it out. I burst into tears when Cole paid his tribute saying, “The last moments of his life were the best of mine.†I knew in my heart that my father was not prepared to die because there were a lot of things we could have spent the moment as a family but sad to say if that was his time, we cannot questioned God.
Now that Father’s Day is come, I just want to share to him these five lists of thing I should have done before his time.
- I should have cooked him his favorite recipe “Tinolang manokâ€. (Now I know how to cook) J
- I should have given him the letter and express to him how proud I am to be his daughter.
- I should have travel with him to his hometown together with the family.
- I should have given him the book I bought on “The Best of Why Riddles†and read with him this post on “Pinoy Jokes†because he always told us funny jokes in my teary moment.
- I should have go fishing with him and share stories about life.
My father died many years ago, and yet when something special happens to me, I talk to him secretly not really knowing whether he hears but it makes me feel better to half believe it.
To you Dad and all the Fathers out there, Happy Father’s Day!
