Top 10 things I learned from my mom
“A mother is the truest friend we have, when trials, heavy and sudden, fall upon us when adversity takes the place of prosperity when friends who rejoice with us in our sunshine, desert us when troubles thicken around us, still will she cling to us, and endeavor by her kind precepts and counsels to dissipate the clouds of darkness, and cause peace to return to our hearts.”–Washington Irving
After all those years I been through with my mother, I could say that my mother is a tough person in spite of the entire predicament that we had encounter as a family. My mom is a never ending melody in my heart of calm, contentment and love. I may at times fail to remember the words but I always learn by heart the tune.
Way back when my father died at an early age (36), my mom somewhat like a single mother with four children to take care about. Taking all the responsibilities in the family, as a father and a mother to all of us is not that easy. But my mother bears it all. Being the eldest in the family, I felt her pain also. She may scold me but it’s a lesson to learn that I won’t forget. That’s why no one in this world can take her place.
Here’s the top 10 things that I’ve learned from her through the years.
- PRAY ALWAYS – She always reminds me to put God first above all things and everything will follow. I keep in mind my mother’s prayers and they have clung to me all my life.
- ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE- After all the trials that we had encountered, God is always there for us. For in God, nothing is impossible if you love and trust Him.
- NO ONE CAN TAKE AWAY YOUR EDUCATION- She always told me to study hard, education is important and she doesn’t want us to be like her.
- TAKE GOOD CARE OF YOUR HEALTH- Until now, she always reminded me to exercise, eat a balance meal, plenty of vegetables to stay healthy. Since she’s faraway from me now, she cannot cook for my meals. I missed her cooking.
- PAY AN HONEST TITHES(10 percent) – I’m guilty with this but she always reminded me to give what is due to Him through my tithes and offering so God will take care of all my needs. She quoted this verse all the time ““I will open the windows of heaven for you. I will pour out a blessing so great you won’t have enough room to take it in! Try it! Let me prove it to you!†(Malachi 3:10, NLT).*
- HELP OTHERS- To have many friends is a treasure to keep. And a true friend is the one who are there for you when you’re in need. Be a good friend—warm, trustworthy, affirming, and loyal.
- SAVE FOR YOUR FUTURE- She told me not to give everything to them without saving for my future. So now? I saved.
- CHOOSING a PARTNER IN LIFE- I remember before when I was in high school when she scolded me for dating too untimely. I might be ended marrying at an early age. Now, she wants me to marry someone who is God-fearing, responsible, a good provider and who will love me as me.
- Become the best person you can possibly be. In everything I do, I must enjoy every moment of it.
- LEARN FROM MY EXPERIENCE- All that I am or ever hope to be, I owe to my mother. Her experience in life is a lesson I should learn when I will become a mother soon.
Now she’s already 52 years old, I knew in my heart that she’s always right in everything she taught me. I love you MAMA and HAPPY MOTHERâ€S DAY!

“I love my mother as the trees love water and sunshine – she helps me grow, prosper, and reach great heights.†~Adabella Radici
